The Marine HermanusPerched on the cliffs of Hermanus, The Marine arguably enjoys one of the southern hemisphere's most spectacular seascapes. With only 43 en suite bedrooms and suites (all individually decorated), this is still a small, personalised Hotel. Views from the accommodation are either of Walker Bay, the beautiful internal courtyard, finely manicured gardens or the Overberg Mountains. There are selection of room types from the Premier Suites, all with varied sea views, to the Suites, with their elegant lounges, the Luxury and Standard Doubles (the latter do not have sea views), and the Single rooms. All accommodation is exquisitely and individually decorated, and is air-conditioned. Each room has Satellite TV, tea/ coffee making facilities, and the bathrooms are all equipped with luxury amenities. You can relax at The Marine in the heated courtyard swimming pool, or stroll along the cliff path to take in the views, and to see the famous whales (from June to December being the best times). You can even see these magnificent creatures from the comfort of the Sun Lounge – where you can enjoy a variety of cocktails. Dining at the Marine is an exceptional experience, with a choice of venues to tempt you. The Pavilion is relaxed and informal, with fresh and sophisticated décor, and excellent views of the sea. Cuisine is varied, but dishes have hints of the Mediterranean and the East. Here you can enjoy breakfast, or dinner (the restaurant is open 5 nights a week). The wine cellar at The Marine is certainly unique and is the central feature of The Pavilion restaurant. It is a floating Cellar stocked with the best of South Africa's wines. Then there is Seafood – with an informal style, and boasting an open kitchen, allowing guests to see the chefs hard at work. The emphasis is on locally caught fresh fish and seafood. The Seafood restaurant is open daily for lunch and dinner. Adjacent to The Sun Lounge is The Sea Food Express One Plate Cafe offering a convenient upbeat light seafood menu. The dishes are prepared by the same chefs that have come to make The Seafood Restaurant so popular. Then, once you have explored the area, and taken in the sites, you don’t want to miss a visit to the Carchele Spa. Here you can choose from a comprehensive list of treatments including facials, wraps, scrubs, massage and aromatherapy, and facilities include a steam room, and dynamic hydro bath table.
