Pontac Manor Hotel

The Pontac Manor is situated in the heart of Paarl, in grounds that are studded with majestic oaks, and manicured lawns, and has been restored to its Victorian elegance. With only 22 rooms, Pontac Manor remains small and intimate. The accommodation is diverse, and is found in the manor house, Victorian Cottage, Pool Annexe and in the gardens, and also includes a Honeymoon Suite.

All rooms combine spaciousness and comfort, and are individually decorated, with both antique and modern furnishings, which include both a Victorian, and a Colonial style. Accommodation is en-suite, and is equipped with air-conditioning, TV, tea/ coffee making facilities, and telephone.

Guests at Pontac Manor enjoy a full buffet breakfast, including fresh seasonal fruit and steamed dried fruit, yoghurt, various cereals and a selection of fruit juices. There is also the award-winning Restaurant at Pontac – which can be found in the lovingly restored barn on the estate. With its setting on the slopes of Paarl Rock, the view is exceptional. Dining is al fresco where possible, and the interior of the restaurant offers antique window frames with deep-set ledges and original stone fireplaces, which add to the informal atmosphere. Although classic cuisine is offered, it is influenced by local flavours, and produce.

You can relax in the Manor House, where plump sofas and armchairs are invitation in themselves. There is also Duke's Bar at Pontac, furnished in Afro-chic style. Guests can also enjoy sun-downers on The Veranda, whilst taking in the magnificent mountain back drop.

With two pools to choose from you might also just wish to enjoy some tanning, or a refreshing dip. In addition, guests can make use of the in-house Medi-Skin Health and Beauty facility. Enjoy massages, facials, manicure, and a variety of other treatments.

As Pontac Manor is in a quiet side street, you are within walking distance of a selection of galleries, gift shops, cafes, and restaurants. There is also a fine selection of architectural delights, including Cape Dutch, Georgian and Victorian.

While, for the more active, there is golf (a number of nearby courses), horse riding, walks in the local Nature Reserve, and mountain biking. A local arboretum with some 4 000 trees is worth a visit, as is the Bird Sanctuary, as is butterfly world.

Pontac Manor is also an excellent base from which to explore an number of local wine estates.
