Knysna HollowKnysna Hollow is beautifully situated on a secluded old country estate near Knysna's famous lagoon. The original Manor House is set amongst magnificent oaks and pecan trees, and forms the focal point of the estate. Built in a bygone era, the Manor is finished with pressed ceilings, yellowwood floors and indigenous wood furniture. Knysna Hollow is an excellent place from which to explore the picturesque and historical town of Knysna, the surrounding forest and magnificent beaches. Accommodation is in 49 garden rooms and 15 luxury garden chalets, all of which are set in the lush gardens, and which are tastefully decorated with a Knysna forest feel. Amenities in all chalets and rooms include ceiling fans, fireplace (essential for a romantic winter evening) television, tea/ coffee-making facilities and private patios. You can enjoy pre-dinner drinks next to a roaring fire in wintertime or in the yellowwood-panelled pub, "The Rutland Arms". The Knysna Hollow Restaurant can be found in the Manor House and serves fine food in relaxed and warm surroundings. There is an eclectic mix on offer, and guests can choose between ocean-fresh seafood such as Cape Crayfish and line fish, local specialties such as Karoo Lamb and Venison dishes, and round-off the meal with a decadent dessert. The restaurant prides itself in offering an extensive wine list that features some excellent Cape wines as well as a broad selection of after dinner drinks including ports, liqueurs and brandies. In addition, there is The Pecan Tree Grill Room, a new dining venue for guests, and which serves contemporary Cape Cuisine, including classic Malay-inspired dishes, and well as local Knysna specialities. Featherbed Nature Reserve is only a short ferry trip across the lagoon, and a walking trail through here is a must. Ride on the famous steam train along the coast through breathtaking scenery. Enjoy a game of golf at one of the many picturesque courses.
