Hog Hollow Plettenberg Bay

Hog Hollow is a 4-star lodge set on the edge of indigenous forest in a private nature reserve, enjoying panoramic views of the surrounding valleys and mountains.

Our 15 suites all have private decks overlooking forest vistas and offer guests relaxed luxury in an unforgettable setting. King size beds, earthy tones, fireplaces, hammocks and hand-crafted artefacts are just a few of the comfortable touches that welcome guests to their private retreat.

Guests sleep comfortably in crisp linen and each night there is a special turndown. On chilly winter nights, we slip a hot water bottle between the sheets just in case the cosy fireplace isn’t enough.

Rooms are fitted with mini bars and mini hi-fis but no TVs or telephones.

The Main House forms a communal dining area surrounded by a long blue swimming pool that visually flows into the valley below and a Boma where nightly fires are lit. Other attractions include a forest sauna and privately sited forest shower with incredible views over the valley.

Kick off your shoes, grab an icy drink from the bar and relax. There are three lounge areas to escape to with a book, a pair of binoculars, or just your thoughts. The pool lounge leads out onto cool blue waters where you may find others lazing about on comfy recliners. The reading room offers a quiet haven and a leafy vista of the indigenous forest valley and Tsitsikamma Mountains. If you're a bird lover we advise you to head straight for the Ficus lounge where an ancient fruit-laden tree is a favourite with Plettenberg's prolific bird community.

At the centre of the Main House is our famously large dining room table where guests can plan their daily activities over breakfast and unwind in the evening around a candle-lit table laden with gourmet delights.

Expect outstanding cuisine, numerous activities to suit each guests need, and truly memorable hospitality from our team. For the adventurous, the lodge is the perfect base from which to explore and experience numerous adventure activities. We are renowned for our personalised service and assist you with the planning and booking of daily excursions.

The Boma is a place for festive occasions and the day's end where guests can kick back on a pile of comfy cushions, a fire crackling nearby, and their favourite night cap in hand.

Hog Hollow is well known for its delectable food. On crisp clear days farmhouse breakfasts are served on the wooden deck overlooking the forest or near the huge fireplace when it’s cooler. In the evenings, guests enjoy scrumptious dinners around the communal table in the candle-lit atmosphere of the main house.

Meals are prepared using only the freshest of local produce. The set menu includes a selection of main course of which fish, prawns and crayfish are daily features.

Hog Hollow welcomes children. We organise babysitting, special turn downs with a glass of fresh milk and a Gingerbread Man, children's stories and CDs, buckets and spades, boogie boards. For our junior guests we have an earlier dining time with special menus.

Once at Hog Hollow you'll find it pretty hard to tear yourself away to explore the area, but the truth is, without the spectacular attractions surrounding our small piece of paradise, Hog Hollow wouldn't exist. So the choice is yours: laze around the pool on balmy sunny days, relax in the sauna, read a book, or take the opportunity to visit the many attractions nearby.

As a guest of Hog Hollow looking to explore the area, all you have to do is arrive. We'll take care of the planning and bookings for you. We usually help our guests plan their day at breakfast, then go off to make all the necessary arrangements before sending you on your way complete with directions, a washed car and a scrumptious picnic basket.
