Grande Roche HotelGrande Roche is situated in Paarl’s Drakenstein Valley, and the property dates to 1717, with growth and change to the homestead, culminating in a ‘modern’ Victorian building in 1876. It has now been lovingly restored to the splendours of the original Cape Dutch design, to the extent that it is now a National Monument. Now Grande Roche is a celebrated luxury hotel, renowned both for its exquisite location in the heart of the beautiful Winelands, and for its luxurious accommodation, award-winning cuisine and exceptional service and hospitality. Accommodation is varied, and is made up of 29 luxury suites, and 5 executive rooms, including a Honeymoon Suite, complete with private sun terrace and separate enclosed patio. All rooms have flowers, fruits and mineral water for guest arrivals. Accommodation is en-suite (most of which have separate bath and shower), air-conditioned, and has under-floor heating, it is also equipped with Satellite TV, mini-bar, tea/ coffee making facilities, room safe, and internet access via the telephone line. Grande Roche is also about fine dining – with the award-winning Bosman’s restaurant situated in the manor house, and is Africa’s first, and indeed, only, Relais Gourmand restaurant. There is also a terrace and patio, for al fresco dining. In addition, there is the Bistro Allegro, offering an excellent selection of Cape fare. Guests can enjoy a meal on the pool patio, in the modern and colourful interior. An excellent venue for a more informal, and light meal. If you would like to relax, and enjoy some pampering, there is the Health Centre, offering guests both gym and massage facilities. In addition, you can enjoy a heated outdoor swimming pool, sauna and steam room. For those wishing to be more active, there are a number of options in the area – from cycling through Paarl, tennis, golf (a number of excellent courses available), hiking, horse riding, along with the more gentle hot-air ballooning, and fishing. You can also indulge in some retail therapy at the La Rochelle Gallery and The Grande Roche Hotel Shop, or enjoy a visit to the many and varied establishments in Paarl, which include a number of delis, gift shops and galleries. Naturally, there is also the attraction of the surrounding countryside, with its incredible scenery, mild climate, and numerous Wine estates to visit.
