Cellars HohenortThe Cellars Hohenort Hotel is adjacent to the world famous Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, and minutes away from the Constantia wine route. Situated as it is in the Constantia Valley, this is a haven of peace and tranquillity. The Hotel is a magnificent restoration of the 18th Century Klaasenbosch wine cellars, and manor house. Here you will find understated elegance and charm, in a small, yet spacious property, as there are only 55 luxury rooms and suites, with breathtaking views across the 9 acre gardens and vineyard. All rooms are air-conditioned, and vary from the 3 bedroom Madiba Villa, to luxury and double rooms – in the Manor House itself. There are two swimming pools (one of which is heated) for hotel guests, and the Madiba Villa has a private pool. Guests can also enjoy the use of a tennis court, Gary Player designed putting green, bicycles for exploring the extensive grounds, and tours of the gardens. You will be spoilt for choice, in terms of fine dining – with The Greenhouse Restaurant, situated adjacent to the historic cellar, (and carefully built around a 300 year-old oak), offering garden vistas, whether you are seated inside or outside. There is the Cape Malay Restaurant – a unique dining experience in authentic Cape Malay food, and exciting choice of traditional taste treats. Then there is The Martini, the newly opened bar and lounge – a place where guests and visitors can enjoy afternoon tea. At night the space is transformed into a sophisticated place where guests can sample martinis – of which there are 152 on the menu! There is a good selection of other cocktails too… Guests can also enjoy a private table in the wine cellar, or a private dining room next to the cellar – the perfect place for a special celebration for a small group (up to 18 can be accommodated). And for a little pampering there is the Carchele Spa, which awaits those in need of complete relaxation. The hotel also boasts its own hair salon.
