Schulphoek Guesthouse

Situated at the beautifully protected sanctuary of Schulphoek Bay with spectacular uninterrupted sea views, the Guesthouse is just 5 km from Hermanus Town Centre.

Relax in the stylish atmosphere where an eclectic mix of old and new Africa merges with the sea. Watching whales and dolphins in the bay, from the lounge or dining room seems that much more of an intimate experience in such a setting.

There are seven double air-conditioned rooms, all en-suite and luxuriously appointed. All are individually decorated, with en suite bathrooms (all with spa-bath and separate shower) which are boast environmentally friendly soaps and shampoos, terrycloth gowns and slippers, and warmed bath sheets. The rooms all have TV, tea/ coffee making facilities, and, apart from the first floor room, look out onto immaculate gardens.

Rooms vary from the spacious Scallop, at 66 square metres, which is the only room on the first floor, and enjoys a magnificent uninterrupted sea view, to Seahorse, with its small second bedroom, and 2 superior, and 2 standard rooms.

Schulphoek Guesthouse is well known for its delectable food. Fresh seafood and in-season shellfish, as well as venison are firm favourites. The superbly appointed kitchen is staffed with a talented local chef, who will happily create a menu around your tastes and preferences. Meals are complemented by a cellar collection of some 7 000 bottles South African wine.

A full breakfast is included, with the option of a light lunch, picnic baskets, and a four course dinner du jour, which is served in the seafront dining room, accompanied by sherry, mineral water and port. Here guests can enjoy an entertaining and memorable evening.

Apart from the obvious, although seasonal, whale watching, there are vineyards within an easy drive, horse riding, golf, great white shark cage diving, visits to Nature Reserves, mountain biking, rock fishing, and scuba diving.

You might just want to relax next to the heated salt-water pool, or enjoy a Wellness treatment.
