Mardouw Country HouseMardouw Country House is a magnificent Cape Georgian property set in the lush wine land area between Swellendam and Ashton, on Route 60. Set against a backdrop of mountains, hills and vineyards, Mardouw Country House provides a luxurious retreat. Lovingly restored, the house combines modern simplicity with historic elegance. Mardouw Country House offers two charming suites and three intimate rooms that boast breathtaking panoramic views of the Langeberg Mountains. Two enchanting suites downstairs and three intimate rooms upstairs accommodate ten guests at one time. The Superior Suite has its own lounge and dining area, and private veranda that leads out to the sparkling infinity pool. The De Luxe Suite is soothing with its tints of sandstone and green, and has its own intimate lounge. The three Upstairs Rooms have access to the west veranda, where you can enjoy views over the Infinity Pool and garden to the hills beyond. All rooms are equipped with mini-bars, electronic safes, hi-fi’s and DVDs, satellite TV, coffee/tea making facilities, towelling robes, slippers, telephone and internet access facilities. Each room has a private bathroom with a separate toilet. Dining at Mardouw Country House is an indulgent affair. Breakfast is served to the sound of an early chorus from the Redchested Cuckoo on the patio. Enjoy your first sip of perfectly chilled crisp white wine with tapas, which is served on the veranda as the sunset transforms the mountains. You might enjoy your first tantalising tastes of the evening under the pergola, where herbal fragrances mingle with the fragrance of the food. Dinner is a leisurely affair as the chef unveils her culinary delights, in four gourmet courses. Mardouw Country House boasts a 300 m golf driving range, whilst four golf clubs in the immediate area offer diverse golfing challenges. Golf car and Mountain biking is also available to view the estate. You might prefer a leisurely stroll in the scented rose garden, and herb garden – both open for guests to enjoy. Birdwatchers will enjoy viewing the herons and waterfowl, and other seasonal species that visit Mardouw. You can also indulge in some lure fishing in the well stocked dam below the infinity pool or on two of the dams - a twenty minute walk away. Take a picnic style lunch prepared by our Chef down to the water’s edge and enjoy the afternoon at leisure on the lawns. Children of all ages are welcome, but by prior arrangement.
