Knysna Log InnThe Knysna Log-Inn Hotel is one of the largest log structures in the Southern Hemisphere, and seems a little out of place, until you realise that logging was a main-stay of Knysna until the 19th Century, and there are many log structures in the area. Knysna and is surrounds are home the last indigenous forests on the South African coast. The Log-Inn is ideally located for sight seeing, and is within easy walking distance of the Knysna Quays (a mere 200 metres), and all its attractions, including the Ferries. With only 57 luxury bedrooms, this is still a small and intimate hotel. 38 rooms are twin or double bedded, and have a balcony, and the remaining 19 rooms accommodate 3 or 4 guests, as there is a lounge area and sleeper couch – ideal for families. All rooms are equipped with air-conditioning, ceiling fans, electronic safes, remote control TV's (M-Net, Sport and local channels), direct dial telephones, hairdryers and tea/coffee making facilities. The Hotel also boasts a swimming pool, sun-deck, Jacuzzi and sauna. Tribes Restaurant offers a mix of Old Colonial, European, Malay and Tribal African recipes. There is a relaxed, rustic atmosphere, which goes well with the elegant timber structure. Specialities of Tribes include Ostrich, Venison and Oyster dishes, many of which are served in a small, traditional 3 legged black cast-iron pot. Before and after dining, you can also relax in the comfort of the bar adjoining the restaurant. A fine selection of local Brandies, single malt Whiskies, and cocktails is available.
