Akademie Street Guesthouses in Franschhoek are different in that the property offers 5 star guesthouse accommodation in three separate and unique guest houses/ cottages, and three suites. Although each of the Guesthouses is different, each has its own swimming pool, and private garden, whilst the suites enjoy exceptional views.

The three individual guesthouses have special names: Gelatenheid (Equanimity), Oortuiging (Conviction), and Vreugde (Joy). In addition there are three suites: Uitsig (View), and Twyfeling (Doubting). All set in within a main property which boasts lush gardens, leading to the main house, where guests can enjoy breakfast under a vine covered patio, or in the Cape Dutch Homestead itself. The suites all enjoy private entrances, and the guesthouses also have private entrances from the road.

Akademie Street Guesthouses are the perfect place to enjoy peace, privacy and tranquillity, but with the assurance of personal attention at all times. The property is also within an easy walk of many of the restaurants for which Franschhoek is justly famous.

Gelatenheid is a luxurious double storey guesthouse with a wide balcony from which to enjoy the excellent views of the surrounding Mountains. There is an extra large loft incorporating the bed/dressing/sitting room with a king size bed, TV and en-suite bathroom. Certainly very specious and comfortable, and guests have the use of a private pool. In addition, there is a romantic bath under the trees. Downstairs there is a kitchen and a dining area overlooking a large pool and private garden. 

Oortuiging was built in the 1860's, but has been lovingly restored, without detraction from the charm of the original building. There are two en-suite bathrooms, a lounge, a kitchen and a dining room. This Guesthouse can accommodate up to three guests. The house is in the shade of a giant white stinkwood tree, and guests can relax in the sun, at the pool garden.

Vreugde is a garden suite that sleeps two in twin three-quarter beds with the choice of having a king-size bed if required. The bath and shower are separate, there is a small kitchenette and French doors open onto a wide veranda with a beautiful garden and small private pool. Vreugde guest house offers both tranquillity and peace.

Twyfeling is a gracious Cape Dutch style house with large living rooms and two large and light filled bedroom suites at opposite ends of the house. Both suites sleep two in a king-size bed or in twin three-quarter beds (needs to be requested in advance).  Each suite is completely self-contained. One of the suites boasts a private conservatory area attached with views towards the mountains. The other suite leads out to the pool garden and has a unique and spacious, glass roofed bathroom.

Uitsig sleeps two guests in a king-size bed or, twin three-quarter beds (advance notice required). The bath and shower are separate and French doors open onto a sun-baked balcony with a lovely view of the mountains.  This private, upstairs suite is extremely spacious and comfortable. However, this is not pool or private garden.

Historic wine farms, great golf courses, hiking, fly-fishing and riding are all close by.
